I’m a filmmaker with over 11 years’ experience working as a self-shooting producer, director and editor. I believe in the transformative power of storytelling — and its capacity to shift perspectives, build connections and inspire meaningful social change.
I’ve worked with organisations including the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC), Macmillan Cancer Support, Médecins Sans Frontières, Refugee Action, Health Poverty Action and the BBC. My projects have ranged from crisis-response films and short factual explainers to working with campaign teams to design multiple videos and brand storytelling. Whatever the brief, I focus on listening carefully and shaping narratives that are thoughtful, emotionally resonant and tailored to their audience.

Over the past decade, I’ve worked on an array of projects, from crisis-response films and short factual explainers to brand pieces and campaign-driven videos. This breadth of experience reflects my ability to listen carefully to different organisations’ needs and tailor content to suit varied purposes and audiences.
Much of my work involves collaborating closely with people sharing deeply personal experiences — including those who are terminally ill, survivors of domestic violence, children, and public figures. Building trust is central to my process. I’m interested in how our identities are shaped through our interactions, and in the stories we tell others — and ourselves.
Alongside commissioned projects, I develop my own artistic practice in collaboration with artists and community groups. This has included photographing poets, artists and activists; creating projection-mapped installations; producing immersive audio experiences; and drawing on my background in psychology to explore memory, perception and connection.
Technically, I work across the Adobe Suite (Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop) and DaVinci Resolve. I shoot on a Sony A7S III (4K 10-bit) with a professional audio kit, allowing me to work independently and responsively in sensitive environments
"Rick’s steady guidance, strong organisation, and adaptable approach helped the team deliver a cohesive and highly effective set of campaign videos, which engaged our target audience thanks to their hook reccomendations. They also created a comfortable, safe filming environment for the group, who were campaigning and talking about their own lived experience of the asylum system."
